Value added travel
After Hurricane Katrina, we posted about our good friend Caitlin and her volunteer work in Biloxi. It was an amazing travel journey for her...and a far cry from the veg at the beach vacation that many of us seek for our R&R.
Well the hospitality industry is getting in on the do good travel game by offering deals for those lending a hand in the hurricane ravaged areas. Yesterday's WSJ reported that Bourbon Orleans, a Wyndham Historic Hotel, is offering rooms for $99 a night to those travelers volunteering with Habitat for Humanity to build homes in New Orleans' Upper Ninth Ward--specifically Musicians' Village and Baptist Crossroads Projects. The nightly rate includes parking, free breakfast, and taxes.
Athletic-Minded travelers should rest assured that Habitat will provide a full body workout!
