This was the first Bikram studio opened in Amsterdam and it offers up to 5 classes per day. A bright red exterior greets you on your arrival, while indoors the scene is a bit more subdued. The large practice room boasts several large windows allowing for plenty of natural light. Showers and changing rooms are onsite.
The Centrum studio is less than 2 miles from most of our featured hotels. You can get there using tram lines 3, 4 and 25 and exiting at Ceintuurbaan/Van Woustraat and walking 3 blocks east. Metered parking is also available on the streets surrounding the studio for those navigating by car, but availability can be limited.
A single class is 20 euro and includes 2 towels, mat rentals are 2 euro, and bottled water is available for 2 euro.
Call the studio for class schedule and more information, but unless there is a holiday, classes are offered as early as 6:30a and as late as 8p.
There is another location at Korte Prinsengracht 91 Links.
ABOUT BIKRAM YOGA
Bikram Yoga welcomes beginners. This 90 minute class consists of 26 beginning postures and is conducted in a hot room (approx. 110 degrees) with, hopefully, high humidity. But don't be fooled into thinking beginning means easy - it doesn't! Iron men and couch potatoes, alike, have found themselves floored in "dead man's pose" just minutes into this challenging workout. You don't have to be strong or flexible or in excellent shape to do this yoga - you simply have to be willing. What we also really like about Bikram's is that every studio teaches the same sequence of postures so you always know you're going to get a full-body workout, a great benefit for travelers.
