This purely vegetarian eatery boasts tasting frequently changing menus of three to four courses. The "fine dining" dishes are globally inspired and, rather than using "fake meats", De Waaghals features organic, seasonal, fresh ingredients to create sophisticated dishes. Vegetables, legumes and cheeses get a lot of attention. The restaurant is located in the multicultural De Pijp area and is also used as a gallery for local artists. The interior is contemporary, casual and streamlined with blond wood tables, wood floors, white walls and plenty of natural light via the storefront windows. During the warmer months, patrons dine outside. Expect a fusion style menu featuring mostly organic ingredients.
Example of menu items include smoked tofu with oven roasted sweet potato with pineapple, ginger and rum piccalilli, black bean and eggplant chili; stir-fried seasonal vegetables with sea lavender and almonds; hearty lentil chili; strands of peppers and beets over polenta with olives; hazelnut, ricotta and lemon ravioli, and green curry with potatoes and vegetables. You get the idea. Each dish is creative and upscale.
Dinner Thurs-Sun starting at 5p.
