This property designed within a network of former canal houses makes our recommended list, but has several pros/cons to consider: the location is good if you desire an abode that is beyond the primary tourist areas, but walking to popular attractions will average 10-15 minutes. We think this hotel is overpriced, given the accommodation's quality inconsistencies.
All 230 guest quarters are uniquely decorated with quaint and character-rich Dutch furnishings and styles; however, some of the rooms are overly simple and dull; a few others are in need of repairs and a sprucing. Canal-side rooms frame a postcard perfect view of Amsterdam's unique waterways, but late-night partying pedestrians walking the sidewalks below can easily disturb your slumber.
The fitness facility is small but can suffice for a quickie. There are LifeFitness cardio machines and dumbbells along with yoga mats, towels and chilled water. BUT, guests may want to consider nearby Health Club Jordaan, a 5-minute walk from the hotel.
Joggers best option is the nearby Vondelpark about 10 minutes at a moderate pace. Lap swimmers can find competitive-quality lanes at Het Marnix.
