After staying in this hotel for two nights, we recommend it as a budget option, especially with the fitness upgrades! It is the closest hotel to Amsterdam's Central Train station so plan on a short, 5-minute walk if arriving by rail in the midst of a rainstorm, we appreciated the convenience tremendously. Victoria is also a convenient foot commute to the city's hot spots (Dam Square, Red Light District, Anne Frank and Van Gogh museums, etc.). However, Victoria sits on what must be the busiest intersection in Amsterdam with automobiles, trams and pedestrians constantly buzzing by. As a result, we strongly urge anyone staying here to request a room on the inside of the building opposite the busy streets.
The fitness center (Victoria Active Club) is a convenient choice for hotel guests. A recent renovation has brightened up what was once a dull (and expensive) on-site option. Open 24 hours a day, the hotel's gym has sparkling-new Technogym cardio equipment, a Kinesis wall, kettlebells, and Technogym plate-loaded machines.
Joggers can consider a run through the amazing Vondelpark, but it will take 15 minutes or so to reach it at a leisurely pace.
Lap swimmers should tram or walk (20 minutes) to Het Marnix for a competition-quality facility.
