Haiku's Asian fusion cuisine and trendy sushi bar attracts a hip crowd. The Short North bistro is stylish and Zen with dim lighting, live music (or DJ), bamboo accents and paper lanterns. Along with sushi, the menu features noodle dishes and small plates. Customizers will enjoy the mix/match possibilities.
The dinner menu features a diverse selection of small plates, soups, and salads. Highlights include edamame, veggie stuffed grilled calamari, grilled scallops, bamboo steamed vegetables and tuna teriyaki. Hot and sour soup, seaweed salad, mixed greens and spicy calamari salad are other starters. In addition to the sushi bar specialties, entrées include various noodle bowls, heartier wok noodle dishes (pad Thai, lo mein, curry) and "large plates" such as wok tossed chicken, beef, seafood and pork. Stir-fry veggies, grilled tuna and steamed fish are other possibilities and tofu or shiitake mushrooms can be substituted for an extra charge. Lunch is similar, but without the "large plates" and instead the option of bento boxes.
