Area: Mid City

There are plenty of options to continue your yoga practice while in London, and this is one of them. Operated by Bikram Yoga London, the City studio offers up the steamy yoga we've come to know and love with a dash of British humor and flair. The instructors are challenging without taking themselves too seriously and believe in making class fun. What makes this studio unique is its decidedly 'zen' vibe. The tranquil atmosphere created by simple modern furnishings, minimalist décor and perfect lighting instantly transport your mind into a state of calm. The studio space is kept simple as well with neutral carpeting and wall colors and a few small windows for natural light.

DIRECTIONS/DETAILS The studio is closest to hotels in Mid City (3.5 miles), Hyde Park (4 miles) and Regent's Park (3.5 miles). If taking the tube, it's a 3 minute walk up City Road, (Old Street stop on Northern Line) where you'll turn right onto Provost, which becomes Vestry. You'll find it next to Fortress Studios. Locker rooms (complete with several showers) are tastefully decorated with light wood cubbies for storage, mock stone tiles and brushed steel light fixtures.

A single class is 15 pounds, towel rentals are 1 pound and water is also available for 1 pound. ABOUT BIKRAM YOGA Bikram Yoga welcomes beginners. This 90 minute class consists of 26 beginning postures and is conducted in a hot room (approx. 110 degrees) with, hopefully, high humidity. But don't be fooled into thinking beginning means easy - it doesn't! Iron men and couch potatoes, alike, have found themselves floored in "dead man's pose" just minutes into this challenging workout. You don't have to be strong or flexible or in excellent shape to do this yoga - you simply have to be willing. What we also really like about Bikram's is that every studio teaches the same sequence of postures so you always know you're going to get a full-body workout, a great benefit for travelers. ** Note they don't call it "sweaty stinky yoga" without reason. Often smaller studios will have a very distinct fragrance. Don't fret and just do the yoga.
