Cafe Rouge (Canary Wharf)

Cafe Rouge is a chain and a reliable one. The Canary Wharf location is right on the water and has outdoor seating. Inside the ambiance is "pub-like" with a French spin, lots of wood, myriad pictures on the walls and a big bar. It's very relaxed and somewhat cozy. The cuisine is French and definitely leans to the richer side, but because it's reasonably priced, offers a big lunch/dinner menu and the fact that there are locations throughout London, we think Rouge is worth recommending.

The breakfast menu offers a number of egg dishes including a basic scramble on toast, poached with smoked ham, eggs stuffed into a crepe or croissant with various accoutrements etc. Beyond the eggs and baked goods, there's not too much else on the breakfast menu. Well, there are meats as sell as espresso drinks. The main menu is much larger and diverse. Along with hearty and rich French dishes, there are a number of lighter selections: For example, look to the chargrilled chicken sandwich, one of the 6 salad options (two sizes) including a Nicoise with salmon and a mixed green with sautéed King prawns, seabass filet on spinach with tomato and lime salsa, or the garlic and thyme infused half chicken. Extra side veggies also available.

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner: Mon to Fri from 8a to 11p; Sat & Sun from 10a to 10p
