This swank and stylish modern accommodation shares a Hyde Park locale with other AMT recommended properties.. On the southeast corner of Hyde Park, Metropolitan is a great choice for outdoor enthusiasts proves useful to those athletic-minded travelers preferring to sweat indoors. The Park's southeast corner doesn't provide as many location benefits as the northeast corner, but it still remains one of our favorite areas.
Metropolitan's rooms boast floor-to-ceiling windows, free wireless internet, flat-screen televisions, and furnishings with a Scandinavian-ish look and feel utilizing pear-woods and white tones. Complimentary fruit and bottled water are delivered during evening turndown service, a nice touch. Some entry-level rooms were designed only with a walk-in shower, so if you're a "bath-taker" be sure to make the request.
The hotel's window-less gym is good but not great. Hardwood floors, white walls and bright lights will perk you up as will the new, silver Life Fitness cardio machines. However, the small quantity of machines may cause some workout compromising if others are in attendance. Free weights, a dumbbell set weighing up to 50 lbs. and a plate/pulley-system, provide ample strength options for weight buffs.
Swimmers must look off-site as Metropolitan does not sport a lap pool. The closest option is likely Virgin Active-Mayfair.
Runner should cross the street and get some miles on the Hyde Park route.
