We love seeing "Aquatic" in a facility's name because it almost always means a top-notch swim venue. Happily, this theory holds true here. If this Y is good enough for the U.S.A. Junior National Competitions, it should be good enough for you, right? A picture is worth a thousand words, so check out its website and feast your eyes on the main pool.
Y's field-house type building harbors 3 water boxes: the 50-meter main pool, a 25-yard teaching pool and a large diving well (platforms up to 10-meters in height). Local swim teams practice here year round, but lanes are always made available for adult lap swimmers. Count on all the bells and whistles, kickboards, pull-buoys and a pace clock. This is probably the best Y swimming option in the country, so if you are close, come for a dip.
The Y's fitness floor is no slouch either. Offering a mix of old and new equipment, exercisers will not search long before finding a well-running machine. Six new StarTrac bikes and 8 Precor ellipticals were recently delivered and sparkle beside other old cardio friends. Pumping iron is no problem either with the Y's ample supply of free weights, dumbbells and stack-loaded machines. We just wish the ceilings were a little higher. Note: Bring your own towel.
