The setting is classic diner meets hipster with neon, formica counter and stools, booths and a big menu. For those who want to eat and exercise, the next-door lounge is a popular dance spot especially at night. This dining car (literally) has been serving locals breakfast, lunch and dinner since the mid-60's but is now only open for dinner and a weekend brunch.
Along with all the comfort food, there are a surprising number of healthier options. On the lighter side there is a honey roasted beet salad, grilled chicken sandwich, tuna burger, and grilled vegetarian portabella sandwich. On the hearty side burgers and huevos rancheros at brunch. And the pancakes of course. Sides include sweet potato mash, smothered chorizo spring bean, garlic spinach, and jalapeno corn muffins. Simply order the spinach steamed! The weekend brunch offers a combination of items from the dinner menu (salads & sandwiches) along with breakfast favorites such as omelets, pancakes, Belgian waffle, French toast and various egg combos. Light eaters may enjoy the granola with Greek yogurt, fruit salad, Asian tofu stir-fry, and the side of turkey sausage.
Open daily 5p to 1a; Weekend brunch 10a-3:30p; Noisy
