Just off Pitt's campus, this is not one of those retro 50s diners with chrome and red. Nope, this place looks more like a truck stop with its wood tables and chairs, old school lighting fixtures and 70s style wood paneled walls. But, Pamela's (with 5 Pittsburgh locations) garners rave reviews for its big and hearty breakfasts. There is even a "morning after breakfast" designed to cure even the worst collegiate hangover! Light eaters do have options, but hearty eaters win here. Pamela's is happy to make egg beater or egg white omelets for light eaters.
Pamela's is known for their crepe like pancakes that come in a variety of flavors (strawberries & cream; chocolate chip banana; spiced apple nut). There are also Belgian waffles, chocolate chip banana pancakes, hash, omelets, French toast and oatmeal. The sides list offers cereal, ham, fruit, and bagels. For lunch count on diner style salads (Greek, grilled chicken, tossed), sandwiches/wraps (e.g., grilled chicken, spinach and feta wrap), and soups.
Breakfast served all day!
