Bikram Yoga Durham

807 East Main St.
Durham, NC 27701
919-251-8763website
Area: Raleigh-Durham

This yoga studio is large and airy with ample studio and change room space. The modern lobby welcomes with unique light fixtures, cool cement floors and industrial style ceilings. We also appreciate the extra precautions the owners take to keep floors hygienic, and the air in the rooms fresh and bacteria-free with special "Forbo" flooring and an ozone air-purification system.

In terms of getting to Bikram Yoga Durham, the studio recommends the following directions: After turning into the Golden Belt Arts Complex off of Main Street, turn right onto Morning Glory Avenue, and then continue on until you see Belt Street which you will take a left onto. At this point, the studio will be on your left.  If you arrive by car, street parking is usually the best way to go, and there is typically ample parking available.

The change rooms come equipped with lockers, hairdryers and toiletries. There are 3 showers available. PVC-free mats are available either for rent or for purchase.  Drinks and clothing is also sold.

The drop-in fee for a single class is $20. Another good deal is the intro package, which includes a week of unlimited classes, as well as a mat and towel on the first day, for only $25.

Check the website for the most up-to-date information, as class times can often change, but a typical week’s schedule looks like the following:  Mon&Wed: 6a, 9:30a, 4p, 6p; Tues&Thurs: 6a, 9:30a, 5:30p, 7:30p; Friday: 6a, 9:30a, 4p; Saturday: 8a, 10a, 4p; Sunday: 8a, 10a, 4p.

ABOUT BIKRAM YOGA:

Bikram Yoga welcomes beginners. This 90 minute class consists of 26 beginning postures and is conducted in a hot room (approx. 110 degrees) with, hopefully, high humidity. But don't be fooled into thinking beginning means easy - it doesn't! Iron men and couch potatoes, alike, have found themselves floored in "dead man's pose" just minutes into this challenging workout. You don't have to be strong or flexible or in excellent shape to do this yoga - you simply have to be willing. What we also really like about Bikram's is that every studio teaches the same sequence of postures so you always know you're going to get a full-body workout, a great benefit for travelers.
