This indoor Olympic-size pool is often set up as short course. Long course is typically run only in the summer. It's a first class facility, but the location is not convenient unless you're staying in downtown Raleigh. The quality of swimming here is certainly worth a drive, but there may be other pools closer to you with above-average ratings. Nevertheless, plenty of parking is available and it is one of the few pools with 50-meter lapping potential.
When we toured the Center, lanes were set up with 8 lanes on one side of the bulkhead and 7 lanes on the other (25 yards on each side). Floating lines, bottom stripes, and backstroke flags help with sighting, and all the toys are on deck.
Bring your own towel and lock, and know that the shower facilities are public, meaning short on frills. $7 is the going admission rate if you're under 54; $5 if you're above that age.
