Zest Café’s fresh and locally sourced American fare relies primarily on organic ingredients. The vegetarian friendly menu is creative and will change depending on what produce is locally available. Zest also doubles as an art boutique; it sells creative gifts and home furnishings, thereby adding to the interesting and unique atmosphere of the restaurant. The eating area is artistically furnished and cozy with wood tables and painted wood chairs. There is also an eating area on the patio, whose fence consists of creatively designed giant forks and spoons. The patio has a cheery atmosphere, with green chairs and a wall that is painted with windows.
There are daily savory-soup specials, such as roasted carrot soup with red pepper and topped with a maple yogurt. Brunch options consist of egg dishes, along with unusual creations such as the “Zestwich,” which contains roasted red peppers, scrambled eggs, mozzarella and basil aioli, served with potatoes and a mixed green salad. Another brunch option is the grilled salmon filet, served with mixed greens, figs, pears, blue cheese and toasted walnuts. Seasonal fresh fruit is available as a side.
The lunch menu is somewhat similar, but with a greater variety of sandwich and salad options. Along with the standard meat sandwiches, there is a roasted portabella cap, with sundried pesto, mozzarella, lettuce, cucumber and alfalfa sprouts. There are also a number of sides offered, including a Mediterranean plate with hummus, fresh fruit or a salad. Main salad dishes include a chicken salad, and an “eat more kale” salad, which consists of kale, orange slices, avocado, asiago cheese and pistachios. You can order chicken or salmon as a side. Entrée options include the baked parmesan eggplant, stuffed with spinach, red pepper and wild mushrooms. Dinner doesn't change too much but there are more entrees selections such as an all-veggie lasagna, as well as a cashew crusted boneless chicken breast, with a cucumber/cabbage salad and peanut sauce.
