Market Street Oyster Bar is one of six restaurants owned by the local Gastronomy Group. This one is located downtown on West Market Street. Three of the holdings are "Market Street" names with each being only slightly different. The Market restaurants are primarily fresh fish/seafood houses. Oyster, unlike the other two, accepts dinner reservations and is considered to be the more upscale option. (If you want a bit more of a foodie experience, The New Yorker, also owned by the group, is right here too). Oyster's décor is contemporary and trendy with high ceilings, wood accents, and over a dozen painted murals. The bar is another eating option.

It's a big menu, one that clearly is meant to appeal to the masses. Each day the menu highlights whatever fresh has been delivered that day. Examples from a recent menu included starters such as a house smoked atlantic salmon and crispy calamari. The eight to ten main entree preparations include Hawaiian black Ahi with ginger soy sauce and grilled rainbow trout. These entrees all come with chowder, spinach or mixed salad and starch. Other entrée fare includes chilled seafood platters, several pastas, seafood salads, chowders, chili, stews and steaks. If you're watching your budget, there are also sandwiches, burgers and fish & chips.
