Comfort Food Cop-Out

I feel vindicated. For the last couple of years, I have bristled, grumbled and ranted about all the new "gourmet comfort food" restaurants.  It seems that every time a new place opened, the menu catered to this new food trend. For healthy eaters, those who are skilled cooks, and for those who lean toward clean food, these menus offer little.

Almond butter versus peanut butter. Which is the healthier choice?

Editor's Note: Lindsay Durston contributed this piece during her internship at Athletic-Minded Traveler. She aspires to be a travel writer.

While there is something deeply gratifying about the sweet, creaminess of peanut butter (unless you lean crunchy), and the way that it often sticks to the roof of the mouth, studies demonstrate, it might be time to switch the nut. Almond butter, which also comes creamy or crunchy, offers more on a strictly nutritional basis.

Go ahead and super size that Jamba

What, Athletic-Minded Traveler is actually condoning ordering BIG? What gives?

If you can make it last, go for it. Willpower.

Our favorite Jamba Juice order, and nearly the unhealthiest, is the Chocolate Moo'd with extra strawberries. Think tasty chocolate shake with a hint of berry. (At least it's more sensible than a Carl?s Jr. chocolate shake, which we also love.)

Because our tasty treat is not a standard menu item, our 16 oz order often yields 24 oz.
