The best, low-cal, low-fat, healthy, super YUMMY Zucchini Banana Bread

We searched, tested and tweaked.  This recipe is a winner! We've made it twice, and it's a crowd pleaser.

What's to like? Look at the ingredients -- you won't find a recipe with more zucchini.  We doubled the amount called for in every other recipe we viewed. And we cut down on the oil. The extra green means a very moist bread. Last, rather than "shredding", we "pulverized" our squash via a small electric chopper. (We have a Black & Decker and it's only $22 on Amazon.)

Easy, healthy, super yummy banana bread

Banana bread. Moist, flavorful and yummy. Healthy? If you are buying it at a bakery, coffee shop or grocery store, probably not. In fact it's likely a fat and calorie bomb!

You can now follow Athletic-Minded Traveler on Twitter!  Our moniker is @healthytravel.  We will keep you up to date (and sometimes even entertained) on all things active and healthy.  Today, @WeightNoMoreDC tweeted about quinoa and we let her know that we had a great recipe for the amino-acid rich protein.

We like this recipe because it is flavorful, looks good, and gets rave reviews!

Schools take note: Put in a salad bar to help kids eat better

I love this little blurb that I read in the April 2010 issue of Cooking Light Magazine:

When UCLA researchers stuck salad bars in three elementary schools, they found that fruit and veggie consumption rose roughly 25 percent--a sign that poor eating habits at school may in part be the fault of poor selection, not resistance to fresh food.

Eating Well at Pizza Fusion. The food is organic, wholesome, natural and tasty.

While we don't typically post about ONE particular restaurant (since our focus is on providing recommendations for over 100 cities in the U.S., Canada and Europe), an expanding "chain" with an athletic-minded menu is worthy of mention.

** NOTE  We learned in 2019 that this chain has had significant business changes. Read more here

Whole Foods strikes again. Another reason to shop at Trader Joes.

I'm befuddled. How can Whole Foods possibly justify charging 53% MORE for the EXACT same product that Trader Joe's sells? YES, THE EXACT SAME PRODUCT. Same packaging. Same flavor. Same Vendor. The Same. The last time I complained, I wasn't as miffed. The product was slightly different in terms of the packaging and the Whole Foods price mark-up wasn't as shocking. I love muffins. Wait, that's not entirely true. I love healthy muffins , ones that aren't loaded with sugar and oil.
