Bikram Yoga Sweat: Stumping the Rocket Scientists.

It started innocently: one day the Bikram Yoga room felt a little cool and I had come to get my sweat on! C’mon. What was going on here? This is Bikram Yoga. You know, the “torture chamber.” Here I was, being tortured by a cool breeze and goose bumps.

What to do? Add clothing. Problem solved.

Exercising in the heat? Drink something cold to aid endurance.

I practice hot yoga. Our teachers recommend that we do not bring in super cold water to sip on (or in my case chug) during class. They posit that digesting a very cold drink requires body energy -- energy that would better be used for the poses. According to a 2008 study, they are wrong.
